Dazzling Day Hike in Chamonix

Day Hike: Le Brevent to Chamonix Centre via Refuge de Bellachat (14km one way).

If you’re looking for a moderately difficult day hike to do in Chamonix that offers spectacular scenery, glacial views and one of the best vantage points of the Mont Blanc massif, this 14 km, 5 hour walk begins from the top of the Le Brevent gondola.

Follow the signs that lead to the Refuge de Bellachat, which provides breathtaking views of Glacier de Bossions all along the way. When visiting this mountain hut, enjoy a pop or some home made pie while taking in the scenery before embarking on a steep and lengthy 6 km descent back down the face of the Le Brevent mountain side. have good footwear, lots of water, a hat and hiking poles to absorb the steep descent. Good footwear, lots of water, a hat and hiking poles to absorb the steep gradient during this part of the hike, are musts.

Make sure you bring cash for the refuge and plenty of water as the mountain huts do not offer any bottle refills and the only free source of water is found in the Nordic region of the trail by way of the glacier fed streams. Delicious!
